There’s something uniquely magical about an Oceanside Couples Session—especially here on the West Coast of British Columbia. The rhythm of the waves, the sea breeze through your hair, and the golden glow of the sun setting over the Pacific Ocean creates the perfect setting for capturing candid, joy-filled moments.
Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing Harry and Hailee at Saxe Point Park in Esquimalt, a stunning oceanside spot just minutes from downtown Victoria BC. Their session was full of laughter, love, and real connection—and I’m so excited to share their story.
Most couples arrive to their engagement session or couples shoot feeling a little bit nervous—totally normal! Cameras can be intimidating, but here’s the secret: this isn’t about performing. It’s about being you.
From the moment we met up for their photoshoot, I reminded Harry and Hailee that the goal wasn’t perfection—it was connection. I always encourage my couples to think of the session like a fun date. Be playful. Goof off. Steal kisses. Laugh. Run wild. Because it’s those candid moments—the ones that aren’t planned—that end up being the most cherished. And let me tell you, these two? They got it.
An oceanside couples session on Vancouver Island offers more than just a beautiful backdrop—it’s an experience. The coastline around Victoria, particularly places like Saxe Point in Esquimalt, is packed with raw, natural beauty. Think rugged cliffs, rocky shorelines, and panoramic views of the Olympic Mountains across the Salish Sea.
There’s a peaceful energy at the ocean’s edge, making it the perfect place to slow down, breathe in the salty air, and focus on the person you love most. Whether you’re newly engaged, celebrating a milestone, or just want to capture your relationship as it is in this moment, the west coast delivers an unforgettable setting.
Saxe Point Park is one of my favourite hidden gems in Victoria BC for couples photography. Tucked away in Esquimalt, it offers a gorgeous mix of oceanside cliffs, forested trails, wildflowers, and open fields—meaning your gallery will have beautiful variety without needing to hop between locations.
Wondering what to wear to your couples photoshoot? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. Oceanside sessions often come with wind and cooler temperatures (especially near Victoria BC) so bring layers! Flowy fabrics, cozy knits, or earthy tones photograph beautifully against the coastal backdrop. I have another blog, here, all about what to wear to your engagement session.
If you’re considering an engagement session or just a celebration of your love story, why not make it an adventure? Whether we’re wandering a quiet beach, hiking through mossy trails, or chasing the sunset across the coastline, your oceanside couples session can be tailored to reflect who you are.
Think of it as part romantic getaway, part photoshoot. Bring your favourite snacks, a cozy blanket, and we’ll create something that feels like you.
If you’re planning a destination photoshoot, an elopement, or you’re just looking to capture a meaningful moment with your partner, I’d love to help tell your story.
As a wedding photographer based on Vancouver Island, I specialize in capturing candid, relaxed, and emotion-filled moments. My goal? To help you feel completely at ease in front of the camera—and to leave you with a gallery full of memories that feel like home.
Whether you’re local to Victoria or visiting British Columbia from afar, I’d be honoured to help you plan your perfect Oceanside Couples Session.
Let’s make it official! I’d love to help you plan a session that reflects your personalities and relationship. Whether it’s at Saxe Point, one of Tofino’s wild beaches, or a secret forest hideaway, I’ll bring the good vibes, a playlist, and maybe a few corny jokes. 😉
