The morning started bright and early; getting to know each other and jumping into the teaching. The students learned about branding, marketing, client process, pricing, posing/prompting, styled sessions, publications and most importantly, themselves!
Next, we took a little break for headshots and got everyone (except Katy- she loved being in front of the camera) SUPER uncomfortable. I think it is SO important for photographers to know how the other side of the camera feels, so that they can accurately empathize with clients.
Later, the students were treated to a detail lesson taught by the amazing Tess Lucas Photography. She spoke about flat lays, ring shots and detail arrangements. Along with the lesson, she also gifted each student a detail kit including ribbons, buttons, wood blocks, a hanger, a ruler and dental wax – right?? So amazing and covers everything you would need from prep items to pretty things!
Tess also assisted in setting up the styled bridal and the flat lay.
Finally, we all began taking photos (the fun part – amiright??). We started with detail shots of a dress from The Bridal Boutique by Designer Lou Atelier, and stationary flat lays by Mango Ink.
And then, into the styled session! The styled bridal photos will be shared later, as they are getting published in the next Today’s Bride issue (yay!).
