Last month I had the honour of connecting with Jill of Eleanor and Ivy. She was oh so kind and sponsored my Golden BC workshop by gifting beautiful art pieces to the students.
While meeting Jill, I learned a little bit about her journey. I’ll tell you how amazing she is but you MUST go check out her blog to read all about the wild journey she has endured over the past year.
This February, her world was shaken upside down when her person was diagnosed with testicular cancer. At first it was hard for her, she was thrown a curve ball that she wasn’t prepared to even think of, let alone face head on. He got through surgery, recovery and four months of chemo and they now hope to say goodbye to cancer for good.
Jill grew immensely during this experience. She grew as a woman, as a partner, but also as an artist. During the days spent in the hospital, providing the best support for her man that she could, she also spent time creating art made to empower, inspire and celebrate. She would write heartfelt messages, quotes and words on paper in harmony with water coloured accents. The idea of Eleanor and Ivy was born!
Her art stood out to me immediately, but now knowing that nearly all of her pieces were made during that time of strength and endurance adds a special meaning to each stroke of her brush. Each piece has a little glimmer of hope, strength and pain. And when I look at my pieces on my wall, I remember that I’m not alone. I have a little piece of Jill to look to when I need empowerment or inspiration. Thank you so much Jill!
