Before I tell the story of their gorgeous Arbutus Ridge Golf Course wedding, let’s chat about how they met! Abby and Braeden met in Schladming, Austria. 6,000 miles from home in the Fall 2017 season of Tauernhof Bible School. They bonded on a missions trip to Romania where they saw each other shine in their natural talent for leadership & service. The two continued to grow closer over the course of the semester. Both were smitten with each other and began a long distance relationship after the school was over, between Calgary and Victoria. Eight months later Abby moved to Calgary from Victoria to attend the University of Calgary. That Christmas, Braeden popped the question at the Butchart Gardens in Victoria. Could their relationship be any more romantic?
Abby and Braeden lucked out with a gorgeous day in the midst of a rainy summer. Intermittent clouds served as shade for their guests. They got married at Arbutus Ridge Golf Course on Vancouver Island with stunning ocean and mountain views. Later, a golf cart drive away at a lookout onto the water, bridal portraits were taken.
To begin the day, Abby did her own makeup. Her hair was done at Twist hair salon and florals by Jennings Florists. Finally, Desserts were by Dolhouse Creations and Origins Bakery.
To begin with, their ceremony was beautiful. Filled with love, prayers, a few tears and laughter! As Abby walked down to the ceremony space, Braeden held his breath as he caught a glimpse of his bride crossing a bridge in the garden. When it came time for the kiss, he couldn’t hold in his excitement and flashed a huge grin to his friends and family. Lastly, they giddily walked down the isle, “The Breakfast Club” fist pumps and all.
Thankfully, they provided nearly 1.5 hours for formal photographs which was the perfect amount to cover family formals. We had time for off and on site bride and groom portraits. As well as bridal party formals (and not so formals, LOL!).
Lastly, wedding coverage finished with the grand entrance to the reception. A few embarrassing stories were told in place of the clinking of glasses to get the newlyweds to kiss and a delicious dinner catered by the venue.
